At present, agricultural development is facing constraints such as environmental deterioration, shortage of agricultural resources and factors, and loss of rural labor. It is difficult to rely on traditional production methods. To achieve agricultural transformation and upgrading,it is necessary to improve agricultural total factor productivity. As the core force of the new round of industrial transformation, digital economy can supply new ways of thinking for the enhancement of total factor productivity in agriculture. Therefore, this thesis uses panel data from 30 provinces(except Tibet)from 2012 to 2020 to explore the effect of digital economy on total factor productivity in agriculture and the mechanism of transmissions.Firstly, this thesis calculates the digital economy development level of each province by constructing a digital economy index system and using the entropy value method.Because the traditional DEA-Malmquist index method has the problem of "technical regression" in measuring agricultural total factor productivity, this thesis uses the global Malmquist productivity index method to calculate the agricultural total factor productivity of each province. After selecting appropriate agricultural output and input indicators, the global Malmquist productivity index method is used to measure agricultural total factor productivity, and decompose agricultural total factor productivity into agricultural technical efficiency and agricultural technical progress.Next,a panel data model is used to study the impact of the digital economy on total factor productivity in agriculture.Meanwhile, the decomposition index of total factor productivity in agriculture is regressed to study the impact route of digital economy affecting total factor productivity in agriculture. Then a panel data model is used to explore the moderating effect of the digital economy on total factor productivity in agriculture. At last, based on the research findings,a series of feasible policy recommendations are proposed in four aspects: agricultural digitization, inclusive finance, agricultural digital talents, and moderate scale operation. The findings indicate that:(1)digital economy development has a positive influence on total factor productivity in agriculture and can enhance the total factor productivity of agriculture in the region. This conclusion.(2)The intermediate effects test shows that technological progress in agriculture is the transmission mechanism by which the digital economy affects total factor productivity in agriculture.(3)The analysis of the moderating effect shows that the impact of the digital economy on total factor productivity in agriculture is moderated by inclusive finance, rural human capital, and agricultural scale operations. The innovation of this thesis is that, firstly, the impact of digital economy on total factor productivity in agriculture and its transmission mechanism are studied through the construction of digital economy index system.Secondly, the global Malmquist productivity index is used to measure the total factor productivity in agriculture to solve the problem of "technological regression" in the traditional DEA-Malmquist. |
