Since the reform and opening up,Chinese agricultural development has achieved remarkable results while the main contradiction has been transformed from the total shortage to structural contradictions.More and more problems such as the rigid growth of the cost of production factors, unreasonable allocation of factors, unreasonable allocation of resources and environmental factors, the pressure of resources and environment, the difficulty of increasing farmers' income and so on,becomes more serious. Now,Chinese agricultural production has been difficult to follow through the traditional means of production, the future of Chinese agricultural development will increasingly rely on the improvement of total factor productivity. Therefore, analysis of the source of growth of agricultural total factor productivity in China and its internal mechanism, grasp the evolution trend of agricultural total factor productivity, research the factors of agricultural total factor productivity, which is important to promote the growth of total factor productivity in China and to achieve the sustained and stable growth of agricultural Chinese.Firstly, based on the definition of the concept of total factor productivity, this paper summarizes the relevant theories and existing research results of total factor productivity in China. Then we use the DEA-Malmquist index method to measure the total quantity and efficiency of agricultural total factor productivity in China from 1993 to 2014,Finally,we use the fully modified least squares(FMOLS)to analyze the influence of rural road density, agricultural irrigation, agricultural investment power efficiency, agricultural loans, rural residents' income structure, ability of disaster prevention, fiscal and labor inputs such as factors on Chinese agricultural total factor productivity. The empirical results of this paper show that in 31 provinces of China, except for Guizhou and Tibet, the total factor productivity of the other 29 provinces is obvious signs of improvement. The trend of the total factor productivity growth rate of the three plates in the East, the middle and the west of China is coupled with the whole country. However, agricultural regional differences of the total factor productivity are obvious,in the eastern region, the total factor productivity in Chinese agriculture is best, followed by the central region, the western region of agricultural total factor productivity is lowest. The results of the decomposition of total factor productivity show that technological progress is the core factor that leads to the change of agricultural total factor productivity, while the technical efficiency has little effect. In the process of agricultural development, there is an obvious trend of differentiation between regional economic growth mechanism, and the significant difference of geographical space is an important basis to explain the change of total factor productivity in china. The empirical results of factors affecting the total factor productivity in Chinese agriculture show that:(1)from 1993 to 2014,promoting agricultural irrigation investment is the most significant role in the provinces of agricultural total factor productivity, then the development level of rural finance and rural residents wage income accounted for.(2)The ability of agricultural disaster resistance and the excessive input of agricultural labor force will seriously restrict the improvement of agricultural total factor productivity.(3)Financial support for agriculture to promote the total factor productivity needs to be improved.(4)Taking into account the differences in the service efficiency of rural roads in different regions, the rural road density does not have an effective role in promoting the improvement of total factor productivity.(5)The shortage of agricultural production and the low efficiency of agricultural production have hindered the development of rural electric power investment on improving the Chinese agricultural total factor productivity.
