| In recent years,as the income of our residents has increased, people have begun to focus more on quality of life. However, various risks can pose a potential threat to a stable life. Therefore,it becomes especially important to prevent risks in order to protect the quality of life.As an important tool for risk management, insurance plays an irreplaceable role in preventing risks and protecting people’s livelihood.Especially after the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the insurance awareness of Chinese residents has been greatly enhanced and their willingness to purchase commercial health insurance has been strengthened, this shift to the development of commercial health insurance has a significant and far-reaching impact. Therefore,in this context, this paper studies the impact of commercial health insurance on residents’ consumption in the east, central and western regions of China,so as to make suggestions on how to broaden the commercial health insurance market and stimulate residents’ consumption. In this paper, the commercial health insurance and the residents’ consumption theory is analyzed,on the impact of commercial health insurance is deduced on residents away two paths: one is that commercial health insurance affects consumption by influencing residents’ disposable income;the other is that commercial health insurance affects consumption by influencing precautionary savings, and chooses the data of the last ten years to quantitatively analyze the current situation of commercial health insurance and residents’ consumption. In the empirical part of this paper, after establishing a fixed-effects model and conducting regression and robustness tests with the help of data from 2011-2020 for the whole country as well as the eastern, central and western regions of China, the empirical study concludes that:whether from the national average or from the regional division according to the degree of economic development, divided into the eastern, central and western regions, the per capita disposable income and per capita consumption expenditure of Chinese residents can play a more significant positive impact on the insurance density of commercial health insurance. The consumer price index and the elderly child dependency ratio also have an impact on per capita consumer spending, although the impact is relatively small. The impact of consumer habits on consumer spending is positive and plays a catalytic role both nationally and in the East,Central and West regions. The analysis of the empirical results shows that the popularity of commercial health insurance in China is still far from enough, people have not yet formed the habit of using insurance to protect themselves against risks, and the commercial health insurance market needs to be explored. This paper combines the empirical results with the following suggestions: the government should improve the relevant legal and regulatory mechanisms, improve the income distribution system to alleviate the problem of excessive income disparity, and conduct propaganda through official channels to eliminate the misconceptions of the fundies about the insurance industry and enhance the residents’ awareness of insurance.Insurance companies should focus on the development of insurance types to meet the diversified needs of customer groups, while improving the professional level of insurance companies and the professional quality of practitioners, and focus on the integration of resources to develop potential market, expand the Midwest insurance market,to narrow the gap in development among regions. |
