| The world is changing so fast today, and the world situation is unprecedentedly complex.China’s exports is facing numerous challenges, and its resilience level needs to be improved. For example,COVID-19 pandemic, and the transfer of foreign trade orders have had serious negative impacts on China’s exports, exposing the problem of insufficient resilience.Meanwhile, the digital economy in China is experiencing a rapid growth trajectory, with its scope continually widening and its utilization being applied to an increasingly diverse range of scenarios.Deepening the development of the digital economy may become one of the potential paths to enhance the resilience of China’s exports. Will the digital economy have an impact on the resilience of China’s exports? If so,how did this impact occur? Exploring this issue is of great significance. To begin with,an assessment is made of the current state of development in China’s digital economy,as well as the resilience of its exports.Secondly, the relevant theories on how the digital economy affects the resilience of China’s exports are proposed,by establishing both a benchmark model and a mechanism testing model,we conduct an empirical analysis of the influence of the digital economy on the resilience of China’s exports,as well as the underlying mechanisms through which the digital economy impacts the resilience of China’s exports.Lastly,we utilize a spatial econometric model to conduct an empirical investigation into the spatial spillover effects of the digital economy’s impact on the resilience of China’s exports. In summary, the main findings of the study are as follows:(1)The development levels of China’s digital economy and export trade resilience have been increasing year by year, but there are problems of imbalance and lack of coordination in development among different regions and provinces. The spatial distribution of China’s digital economy reveals a higher level of development in the eastern region, and comparatively lower levels in the central, western, and northeastern regions.Additionally, there exist significant disparities in the digital economy’s level of development among provinces within the eastern region. The distribution of the resilience of China’s exports in China shows a higher level in the central and western regions and a lower level in the eastern and northeastern regions, with significant differences in the level of the resilience of China’s exports among provinces in the central and western regions.(2)The study’s analysis indicates that the digital economy exerts a positive influence on the resilience of China’s exports.Specifically,in the eastern and western regions, the development of the digital economy can enhance their export trade resilience, whereas for the central and northeastern regions, the impact of digital economy development on the resilience of China’s exports has not yet emerged. In addition, the impact of the digital economy on the resilience of China’s exports is achieved through improving regional innovation and industrial diversity.(3)The impact of the digital economy on the resilience of China’s exports exhibits a spatial spillover effect, meaning that the enhancement of the digital economy’s development level in a specific locality can trigger a rise in the resilience of China’s exports in neighboring regions.Drawing upon these findings, the study offers several policy recommendations to facilitate the continued growth of the resilience of China’s exports. |
