The Impact Of RCEP Trade Liberalization Policy On The International Competitiveness Of Agriculture Products Of Its Member Countries

The entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)on Jan1,2022 marks the launch of the world’s largest free trade area.As the world’s largest agricultural trade market,the RCEP liberalizes agricultural trade by reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers,promotes the integration of agricultural supply chains and industrial chains within the region,and facilitates the restructuring of regional agricultural production networks.While expanding the agricultural trade markets of its member countries and promoting intra-regional trade in agricultural products,the RCEP also brings new competitive pressure to its members in the agricultural sector.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impact of trade liberalization policy represented by tariff reduction on the international competitiveness of agricultural products of RCEP member states,and to evaluate the international competitiveness of agricultural products of China and other member states,so as to better participate in agricultural cooperation among countries in the region.The first chapter of this thesis mainly reviews the related research literature;The second chapter combs the theoretical basis and proposes the research hypothesis based on the theoretical basis.The third chapter introduces the trade liberalization policy represented by tariff reduction in RCEP,and compares and analyzes the international competitiveness of agricultural products in RCEP member countries.The fourth chapter uses STATA software to study the influence of the degree of trade liberalization on the international competitiveness of agricultural products.Chapter five predicts the impact of liberalization policies represented by tariff reduction on the international competitiveness of agricultural products of RCEP members.Chapter six draws conclusions and puts forward suggestions,namely,China and other member states should seize the opportunity of the implementation of RCEP,take the initiative to align their trade liberalization policies represented by tariff reduction,promote intra-regional agricultural competition and cooperation,and enhance the international competitiveness of domestic agricultural products.The empirical results of this paper show that the trade liberalization policy represented by tariff reduction of RCEP member countries has a significant positive impact on the international market share index,the symmetric comparative advantage index and the trade competitiveness index of their agricultural products.Then,this paper uses GTAP10.0database and RUNGTAP software to simulate and predict the impact of RCEP’s trade liberalization policy represented by tariff reduction on the international competitiveness of its member countries’ agricultural products.The simulation results show that,The implementation of trade liberalization policies represented by tariff reduction in RCEP will have a positive impact on the international competitiveness of its member countries’ agricultural products.Based on the analysis of this paper,it can be concluded that the RCEP trade liberalization policy can promote the international competitiveness of the member countries’ agricultural products.Therefore,the member countries should seize the opportunity of the implementation of the RCEP,continue to deepen the competition and cooperation in the field of agriculture,and constantly improve the international competitiveness of agricultural products.
