At present, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and our economic development has also entered a new era.China’s economy has shifted from the high-speed growth stage to the high-quality development stage. The level of science and technology innovation needs to be improved, and enterprises as the driving force of innovation and creation, how to drive the economic development of enterprises with innovation at this stage so as to contribute to the high-quality development of the national economy has become the key to test enterprises. At the same time,in the context of economic globalization and competitive globalization, innovation also helps them break through technological bottlenecks and build and maintain competitive advantages in the international market. In the context of the new development period of Chinese enterprises, the unprecedented change of the century, the new pneumonia epidemic and the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, how Chinese enterprises can solve the problem of neck technology, achieve new development leap in the new globalization and enhance the core innovation capability has become the most important for China to master the development autonomy. In the 1990 s,some enterprises, represented by Huawei and Haier, started to implement R&D internationalization activities to gradually build a global brand, enhance their innovation capability and level, and then strengthen their core competitiveness and build competitive advantages. At the same time, with the rapid rise and application of artificial intelligence, blockchain and other digital technologies,it is also helpful for companies to compete for digital transformation,to occupy international market share and to create their own innovative advantages. So,does the internationalization of R&D effectively enhance the innovation capability of Chinese companies? Can the digital transformation of enterprises play a role in this process? This is a question worth studying.Based on the existing research and related theories, the paper selects data from seven types of listed enterprises in knowledge and technology-intensive industries, including electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and information technology services,in China during the period 2015-2021.Principal component analysis is used to measure the innovation capability of these seven types of high-tech enterprises, and a panel regression model is constructed to analyze the relationship between the depth and breadth of R&D internationalization and innovation capability, and to measure the moderating role of digital transformation in this process. The findings show that the breadth and depth of R&D internationalization positively affect the innovation capability of firms, and the effect is more significant in regions with a high level of marketization. It is also found that the digital transformation of firms significantly and positively moderates the relationship between R&D internationalization and firms’ innovation capability.According to the findings of the study,in order to further maintain the competitive advantage of enterprises and to play the role of R&D internationalization to enhance the innovation capability of high-tech enterprises, this paper proposes countermeasures from three levels: strengthening policy protection, encouraging more enterprises to carry out international R&D,empowering digital technology, accelerating the process of digital transformation of enterprises, and improving the market environment to promote the economy to achieve high-quality development. In order to provide some reference for how Chinese enterprises can grasp the trend of high-quality economic development, and then enhance their innovation ability and occupy the international advantage.
