| In the era when innovation becomes the first driving force for development,accelerating product market iteration,emerging technologies and increasingly fierce competition pressure aggravate the complexity and uncertainty of enterprise innovation,resulting in many enterprises unable to withstand the survival pressure brought by complex situations and fall into a development dilemma.However,innovative enterprises such as Huawei,Yili and Beizhong can break the situational shackles and become industry leaders,showing strong innovation ability.The fundamental reason lies in the fact that such enterprises have an excellent senior management team that can react quickly to changes in internal and external situations to build innovation cognition,so as to guide the organization to effectively allocate and deploy internal and external innovation resources,continuously realize innovation in technology,market,management and other fields,and promote the continuous advancement of enterprise innovation ability.Existing studies have paid more attention to the important impact of individual cognition of managers or the educational background and work experience of top management teams on the innovation ability of enterprises,but have not explored how the cognitive formation process of the meaning construction of top management teams plays a role in the cultivation and upgrading of the innovation ability of enterprises.Therefore,to further explore the complex relationship between meaning construction and innovation ability of enterprise top management team,that is,how enterprise top management team can identify situational changes to construct their own cognition and convey it to the whole organization so as to stand firm and continue to move forward in complex business environment and form enterprise-specific innovation ability,has become an important topic of research in the field of enterprise innovation today.In view of this,this study firstly reviews the existing researches on Sense-making,Sense-giving,Resource-focused action,Innovation ability,and deeply understands the relevant theoretical basis.Secondly,this study uses the exploratory single case study method to precipitation key constructs through data coding.Based on the case of Beizhong Group,it analyzes the formation process of innovation ability promoted by meaning construction of senior management team in innovation-oriented enterprises,and clarifies the correlation between key variables.Thirdly,combining the conclusions of case studies and relevant theories,specific hypotheses are proposed,and a chain mediation model of Sense-making,Sense-giving,Resource-focused action,Innovation ability is established.Finally,this study collected data through questionnaire survey.309 questionnaires were collected from online and offline channels,and 278 valid questionnaires were obtained by eliminating invalid questionnaires and excessively consistent answers.SPSS26.0 and AMOS24.0 data analysis software were used for statistical analysis of the obtained data,and hypothesis testing was conducted.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)The Sense-making of enterprise top management team plays a positive role in promoting enterprise innovation ability;(2)Sense-giving plays a mediating role in the influence of Sense-making on the Innovation ability of enterprises;(3)Resource-focused action plays a mediating role in the influence of Sense-making on firm Innovation ability;(4)Both the interpretation dimension and the construction dimension of the Sense-making of the top management team can exert a positive influence on the innovation capability of enterprises through the chain mediating effect of Sense-giving and Resource-focused action.To sum up,this study studies the innovation of Chinese enterprises from the micro-level of organizational cognition,behavior and ability around the context of Sense-making,Sense-giving,Resource-focused action,Innovation ability,and puts forward a complete theory that helps innovation-oriented enterprises to give full play to the guiding role of senior management team to build innovation ability.This paper reveals the internal mechanism of the effect of the meaning construction of the executive team on the innovation ability of the firm through the two sub-processes of situational interpretation and cognitive construction. |
