The twin roll continuous casting of aluminum was developed into a commercial process by Hunter-Dauglas company in the early 1950's,since then, the process has gained world-wide acceptance in the aluminum industry as an economical method for producing a wide variety of flat rolled products. As the producing speed of continuous casting is far below the predicated speed in theory, lots of factories and research organizations start to develop high speed continuous caster which can produce super-thin strip in the end 1980's. With super-thin strip, the thermal deformation of casting-roll affects directly the shape of roll gaps and is one of most major factor that decides flatness.The thermal deformation theory has world-wide been researched massively, but the study on thermal deformation about casting-roll is little. DiflFering from hot roll and cold roll, casting-roll is provided with Complex geometry structure and composite material, so temperature field and thermal deformation theory of casting-roll cannot follow conventional theory of hot roll and cold roll. The study on thermal deformation theory of casting-roll is very important not only to enrich and develop flatness control theory, but also to improve casting-rolling flatness control precision.First, the paper researched and developed the interface element theory on temperature field and thermal deformation of composite and moving structure and derived its interface element control equation according to elastic static problem interface element ideal of composite structure or discontinuous medium. Then we developed the fluid-solid coupling model of casting-roll 3D temperature field, and established its 3D simulating control equation and boundary condition, after that carried out numerical calculation based on interface element theory. Also heat exchange in casting-rolling field and exterior cooling behavior have been analyzed. In the next place we also established thermal deformation simulating computational model, and confirmed prestress field and derived a new formula for calculating shrink fit capacity between different material roll-cover and roll-core. Then researched the interface element computing method of casting-roll thermal deformation.After the theory analytical basis, we developed the interface element simulation system for temperature field and thermal deformation of casting-roll based on object-orientedtechnology. And 3D data field about casting-roll temperature field was visualised on the basis of scientific calculation visual method, it make the change law of casting-roll temperature field becomes visible.Finally, we proceeded simulation analysis to 1600mm aluminum casting-roll, and gained some important conclusion, then forecasted the temperature field and thermal deformation changing law of casting-roll at high-speed roll casting.
