The sustainable situation of intensive livestock production was analyzed thoroughly and comprehensively in this paper by applying environment evaluation methods and cost-benefit analysis. As a result, some countermeasures and suggestions to solve the environmental problem caused by intensive livestock production in suburbs of Beijing were put forward accordingly. The main research and results of this paper are as follows.1) Environmental quality of intensive farming production in Beijing area was analyzed and assessed in detail. Through the field survey about environment situation of farming production in the suburbs of Beijing and measure and analysis about environmental quality of stock farm, the database on farming production and environment quality situation in the suburbs of Beijing was established. In view of loading fecal capacity of land treatment, the capacity of fecal loaded by soil was analyzed and the alarm signal of hazard that fecal polluted soil was classed. The result showed all section and county in far suburbs of Beijing were threatened by pollution in varying extent. Among these areas, the threat of fecal to soil in Shunyi section and Mentougou section was serious comparatively. Therefore, more attention on farming environmental pollution to Miyun county should be paid. The ecological environmental quality of livestock husbandry in Beijing suburb was assessed from the point of environmental elements. The research showed that summer, autumn, and their comprehensive index of livestock husbandry ecological environmental quality in Beijing was 1.63, 1.37, and 1.50, respectively. They were higher than 1, indicating that the environment of livestock production was bad. The level of air pollution in livestock shed, buffer, and field was clean, moderate pollution, and mild pollution respectively. Moreover, the main pollution factor was inhalable particles, TSP, and TSP respectively. The air pollution in chicken house was close to the alert level. The drinking water quality of slock farm was good, but the number of E. coli and the total number of bacterial exceeded the criterion in some monitoring sites. The chief pollutant of stock farm waste water was E. coli. The ratio of pollutant loading in equivalent standard was 0.57. The pollution type of waste water in stock farm was biological. The hogpen was the main source of pollution2) Economic analysis was carried out in the effect of intensive stock raising on environment. The main results are as follows. The name list of affecting factors of stock breeding on environment was established. The gists to carry out qualitative and quantitative economic analyses were made based on the principle of evaluating each affecting factors on its resulted environmental economic lost. The qualitative analysis was also carried out in the effect of animal drugs on environment. Data showed that Beijing You chicken , scalper and native kinds of rabbits were strongly affected by animal drugs. The quality of animal drugs in Beijing market was better than those in other domestic markets. However, the quality of feed was not good. The using of animal drugs definitely increased annually. The discharge evaluation of green house gases (methane and nitrous oxide), and acid gases (ammonia) were also carried out. The cost - profit analysis was made for livestock production in Beijing suburban area. Finally, the competition status was also analyzed by taking the composition of market cost into consideration. The result showed that the livestock production cost was higher in Beijing because of its highest cost of labor and crude materials than in its neighboring provinces by comparing the composition of cost.3) The suggestions to solve the problems of environmental pollution by livestock production in Beijing suburban area were provided through different aspects including the distribution adjustment of stock breeding and the bred stock composition. In the end, this paper explored the application of environmental econo...
