With the social economic development and science and technology progress, especially the fast urbanization, a great number of high-rise and large space buildings are coming into being. For these buildings, it is hard to divide their inner space into small fire coMpartments as the ordinary treatment for general buildings, and the ordinary fire detecting and extinguishing devices can hardly exert their functions. Fire and smoke spread rapidly in these buildings. The evacuation becomes even more difficult. All these factors make the fire-fighting a huge task. Therefore, it is very important and valuable to study fire prevention techniques for large-space buildings.On the basis of the analysis of the research and development status of fire monitors, the shortcomings, such as poor accuracy, weak anti-interference and untimelyness, with the current image-based fire detecting and extinguishing fire monitor systems are put forward. Then, the topics of this thesis are outlined which are: techniques of accurate tracking and positioning, techiniques of closed-loop control, and efficient detecting techniques based on fire images.The study on accurate tracking and positioning starts from the discussion of accurate forecasting of water jet track and range of fire monitors. There are three aspects:(1) An analysis of the motion of the water jet sprayed out from fire monitors paves the road to set up a motion model for water jet of fire monitors. The model is applied to study the water jet tracks of two fire monitors. The simulated tracks agree well with the actual ones. The theoretical model is also applied to analyze the variation law between the range of the monitor with the flow-rate and working pressure of fire monitors, and the relation between the range and the corresponding pitch angle. All the simulated results show that the model is correct.(2) A kind of error compensation method for the turning and pitching of worm transmission are put forward in this paper. An experiment formulation method by using experimental data to derive the range of fire monitors is also brought forward. Numerical simulations show that the method has good performance.(3) The theoretical model method and experimental formulation method are comined into an organism. Some common sitations that the fire monitors are put into use are discussed. Solutions to these situations are put forward and examples are cited and solved. All the examples show that the theoretical model can satisfy all kinds of demands.In image-based fire detecting study, acooding to the rich characteristics of a flame, a set of fire detecting methods are issued and the fittest image detecting area is found. An improved fire detecting and controlling switch algorithm and a kind of characteristics fusion algorithm are proposed to make the detecting of fire more reliable and effective. Based on the distributed calculation of DSP processors, the hardware and software realization of fire image detecting system is discussed. The new structure has basically solved the problem that the conventional fire image detecting system can not respond timely because centralized computation is applied.The closed-loop control for the adjustment of fire monitors is proposed. The control techniques include the closed-loop control of turning angle of the transmission agency and the positioning of the water jet of fire monitors. Simulating of the control processes demonstrate that the solution is rather efficient.The techniques of accurate tracking and positioning, techiniques of closed-loop control, and efficient detecting techniques based on fire images are all put together to build the intelligent water fire monitor systems applied in large space places. A few experiments demonstrate that the system has good positoning accuracy, better anti-interference performance and fine timeliness. It can do satisfy the demand of engineering application.
