Based on reviewing and sorting out the documents and data on DN from ancient and modem,we demonstrated qi-yin edficiency and stasis of blood-turdidity were the basic pathologic changes in DN process.The basic theropeutic principle of DN was supplementing qi, nourishing yin, warming yang,tonifying the kidney,removing blood stasis and resolving turbidity.The clinical total effective rate was 90% on treating the early and middle stages of DN with TangShenkang(TSK)created by Prof.Lidelin,much better than the control group.There was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.O1), After have reconstructed successfully experimental animel medol of DN by inject lower dosage STZ into the rat's abdominal cavity and fed in higher quantity of heat, we carried out the animal experiments to study the relations between DN and apoptosis as well as the functional mechanism of TSK.The results showed: I .TSK could obviously improve clinical symptoms, lower blood glucose, blood-fat, blood viscosity and fibrinogen, reduce urinary protein and improve the renal function.2.In the renal tissues, the numbers of apoptosis increased obviously.It shows that apoptosis has relation to the mechanism of DN.3.Apoptosis was positive correlation with Fas/FasL gene expression and negative correlation with Bcl-2 gene expression.Besides, it was influenced by PKC.4.TSK could prevent and treat DN by way of the following path:(1)Lowering blood glucose to correct elevated renal plasma flow and glomerular filtrating rate in the early stage of DN.(2)Regulating fat metabolism.(3 )Reducing nonenzymatic glycation of protein.(4)Decreasing insulin resistance.(5)controlling the hyperplasia of extracellular matrix.(6)controlling apoptosis gene and transforming system of sign to reduce apoptosis of the renal tissues.
