Study On Risk Factors ,Regularity Of TCM Syndrome And Fatigue Characteristics Of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is an illness characterized with unknown fatigue persisting or relapsing > 6 months. Since a case definition was developed and diagnosis criteria was established in 1988 by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), the research on etiology and treatment of CFS has been a worldwide hotspot .Up to now, however, there are no effective treatment methods because of unclear etiology and pathogenesis. So the study of CFS based on Chinese Medicine Theory will have important significance and fine prospect.The project is financed by Department of Health and focuses on the study on risk factors .regularity of TCM syndrome and fatigue characteristics of CFS. The thesis includes two parts: theoretical study and clinical study.1 Theoretical Study1.1 The study on the risk factors of CFS(1) Western medicine considers that CFS is the result of both indirect and direct factors. Indirect factors include social and economic factors, hygienic factors, biological factors, environmental factors, psychological stress factors and so on. Direct factors mainly contain virus infection, immune function disorder and neuro-endocrine disturbance.(2) In the opinion of Chinese medicine. CFS is responsible of such factors as: invading of exogenous pathogenic factors due to weakness of constitution , emotional stress, physical or mental overwork, and irregular or improper diet. Moreover, the disordered function of the heart , liver, spleen Jung and kidney and disharmony of qi .blood, yin and yang due to above factors is direct reasons of CFS .(3) By analyzing and summarizing the correlative research reports, the paper brings forward the study on risk factors or etiology and pathogenesis of CFS from both west medicine and Chinese medicine aspects is very important and significant in our country where life environment and cultural background are different from other countries, especially by means of case-control study .1.2 The study of TCM syndrome(1) The deficiency of five viscera, qi ,blood, yin and yang is the internal basic cause of theoccurrence of CFS ,which also accompanied by exogenous pathogenic factors ,stagnation of qi ,phlegm -dampness ,damp-heat, fire due to deficiency of yin and so on. CFS mainly manifests asdeficiency syndrome and deficiency syndrome complicated with excess syndrome, in whichstagnation of liver-qi plays an important role in the development of CFS.(2) We consider there are many shortcomings in the present research reports, for exampleuncertain criteria of CFS,small sample,unadvanced research methods.So,the paper put forward thatwe should focus on the study on the regularity of TCM syndrome by multianalysis statisticalmethod in a large quality cases of several clinical research bases.1.3 The study of fatigue-, fatigue assessment and the fatigue assessment of CFS(1) The concept of fatigue includes three implications :difficult to go on working , lower of efficient of work ,fatigue feeling and disordered physical function. Fatigue may be grouped into different categories in terms of its pathogenesis .course of disease, and so on .The assessment of fatigue can be mainly summarized as physiological reaction mensuration, biochemisty reaction mensuration and subjective assessment after about a century's study.In actural application ,the three methods often all be used .(2) CFS is characterized by unknown fatigue as the principle symptom.The paper considers the study on the fatigue characteristics of CFS is very important by comparing the fatigue manifestation of fatigue assessment instrument(FAI)and fatigue scale-14(FS-14) in CFS cases ,health group and such diseases cases as despressed and diabetes .On the other side ,it is necessary researching the fatigue characteristics in differernt TCM syndrome of CFS because of the non-homogeneity of CFS.2 Clinical StudyIn the research, we investigated the risk factors of CFS including 15 indexes of TCM syndrom by case-control stud...
