Traditional Chinese medicine regards that strengthening spleen and supplementing kidney are the basic methods to delay aging. With the development of traditional Chinese medicine theory, some scholars pose new theories about aging. Dr Yandexin regards qi deficiency and blood stasis could cause aging. Dr Dongjianhua used precipitation method for aging and received better therapeutic effects.Qibaomeirandan is one of the most famous recipes for anti-aging which has the effects of nourishing and enriching the liver and kidney. It is usually used for the syndrome due to the deficiency of vital essence of liver and kidney with symptoms of premature graying, weakness and soreness of waist and knees.We design an animal experiment to determine the effects of Qibaomeirandan combined with qi-supplementing medicinal, kidney-supplementing medicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal on rats given D-galactose to induce aging by observing rat's brain pathological change, blood serum (SOD, MDA, GSH-PX, IL-2) and brain tissue plasma(MAO-B). The results showed that:1. Yanshoudan, Qibaomeirandan combined with qi-supplementing medicinal, kidney-supplementing medicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal could improve the brain tissue injures partially.2. Qibaomeirandan had better effects on increasing SOD levels. Yanshoudan had better effects on increasing GSH-PX levels. Qibaomeirandan combined with kidney-supplementingmedicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal could not only decrease MDA levels but also increase GSH-PX or SOD levels. Qibaomeirandan combined with kidney-supplementing medicinal had better effects on increasing H-2 levels.3. For male rats, qibaomeirandan combined with qi-supplementing medicinal, kidney-supplementing medicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal had better effects on increasing SOD levels. Qibaomeirandan combined with kidney-supplementing medicinal had better effects on increasing GSH-PX levels.For female rats, qibaomeirandan combined with kidney-supplementing medicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal had better effects on decreasing MDA levels. Yanshoudan, qibaomeirandan combined with qi-supplementing medicinal, kidney-supplementing medicinal or blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal had better effects on increasing GSH-PX levels.4. For male rats, qibaomeirandan combined with kidney-supplementing medicinal had broader effects on improving SOD, GSH-PX, IL-2 levels. For female rats, qibaomeirandan combined with blood quickening stasis-dispelling medicinal had broader effects on improving ovary weight/body weight, MDA, GSH-PX levels.According to traditional Chinese medicine theory and clinical experiences, aging is a changable process for the whole body. It affects a lot of organs and has connections with phlegm turbidity, qi stagnation and blood stasis. It includes root vacuity and tip repletion. Root vacuity leads to tip repletion and tip repletion makes root vacuity more serious. Kidney vacuity is the basic reason for aging. For delaying aging, supplementing the insufficiency is the primary way and eliminating pathogenic factors is the secondary way. For eliminating pathogenic factors, quickening the blood and transforming stasis is the primary method and removing phlegm and precipitation are the secondary methods. It should be a better way to determine treatment by patterns identified according the patient's condition.
