| The main therapy of chronic hepatitis B (C1-LB) in western medicine is comprehensive treatment including antivirus, inimunoregulation, ameliorating hepatic function and antifibrosis. This treatment can't get a good curative effect with a high recurrence rate. The expensive drugs with a big toxicity don't exert any effect on immunity tolerance period of chronic hepatitis B. People pay more attention to seek TCM therapy for chronic hepatitis B and hepatitis B without symptoms because the disease is one of the important causitive factors for hepatocirrhosis and hepatoma in China. No syndrome, long course of diseases and inextirpable pathogen are three difficulties confronted with by TCM for chronic hepatitis B. This challenge the theories of TCM for chronic hepatitis. The following researches guided by theories of incubative pathogen and epidemic febrile disease base synthesis of the past and resent researches. In the researches, chronic hepatitis B was treated by tonifying the kidney, clearing away heat and expelling pathogenic factors from the exterior. The works, aiming to studying the immune mechanism of interaction between virus and host, consisted of theoretic research, clinic study and laboratorial research. I Literature Overview Not only the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine and medical books about jaundice and hypochondriac pain in terminal stage of Qing dynasty were studied, but also the experiences of scores of famous doctors such as Pu Fuzhou, Qing Bowei, Jiang Chunhua, Shen Yannan and Lu Zhizhen on treating chronic hepatitis B were summarized. TCM provides much valuable experience on treating Cl-LB. In the paper, tonifying the kidney and detoxicating to treat CR13 and the function of antigen of CHB (MHC antigen system and Thl/Th2) were summarized, and the animal model of hepatitis B including I-IBV transgen mice (HBVTGM) were reviewed. At the present, TCM treating Cl-LB with incubative pathogen and tonifying the kidney has many problems to be resolved. In the study of the mechanism, choosing I-LB VTGM animals, observing MI-IC antigen system and Thl/Th2, probing into the immune mechanism of interaction between virus and host has a certain prospects. H Theoretic Study Under the guidance of the Liu's theory of kidney dediciency and incubative pathogen, the author pointed out that the key of understanding the incubative pathogen was that kidney deficiency is the essence of the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B. Liver and kidney come from the same origin, kidney deficiency result in liver deficiency and pathogen incubate deficiency place. So as to pathogen incubate in Shaoyin, in chronic hepatitis B, it is easier to understand that I{BV incubates in liver blood. That conforms to pathological characteristic of chronic hepatitis B. The property of incubative pathogen can't be restricted to the incubation of cold changing into warm, should be understood as epidemic heat and epidemic toxin. So we put forward this hypothesis firstly that the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B is kidney deficiency and damp, heat, toxin pathogen incubating in liver blood.
