ObjectivesIt was confirmed in previous researches that injection therapy with HUANGQI and DANGGUI into the acu-points of ST36, BL18 and BL21 partly alleviates or reverses the atrophy and intestine-like changes and hyperlasia of the gastric mucous membrane for the patients with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG). The injection therapy regulates the immune system of the CAG patients in two ways. On one hand it enhances the activity of SOD to protect the membrane for the injuries of the oxygen free radicals. One the other hand, it restrains the activity of pylorus Helicobacter pylori (Hp), controlling the inflammation of gastric mucous membrane by restraining. The injection therapy reduces the net loss of the cells gastric mucous membrane by lowering the ratio between apoptosis and hyperplasia of the membrane cells. Moreover, it makes the cells of the intestine-like membranes reversible as indicated by the increases in the ratio between the apoptosis and hyperplasia of the intestine-like changed and hyperplasia membrane cells. All these researches showed that the acu-point injection therapy is effective in controlling CAG. In addition it is economical, safe and easy to popularize.Effective and safe regulations of clinic operations of the Aco-injection therapy of CAG have been proposed after a series clinic and experimental work of the research group lead by Prof. Xu Wu in the Department of Accupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Jaingsu Province. The objectives of the research are to further evaluate the regulations by multi-clinic observations and to standardize the operations on point combination, injection volume and injection duration by validation of clinic effects and reactions. The final objective of the research is to consummate the operation regulations for national wide popularization. The research was granted by the Administrative Bureau of Chinese Traditional Medicine.MethodsThe research is at the clinic stage to standardize the clinic operation regulationof the acu-point injection of therapy of CAG.During the clinic therapy, patients were grouped into injection group and no-injection group as control. The injection group included 47 CAG patients. The standardized clinic operations were applied for one therapy period of 3 months. Generally, eight ml mixture injection of HUANGQI and DANGGUI was used to inject into the acu-points of ST36, BL18 and BL21 on bilateral sides alternatively every other day. The no-injection group include 46 patients and the patients were treated with oral-take of 4 tablets of WEIFUCHUN per times and 3 times per day. Symptoms, gastroscopical images and pathological results were recorded before and after therapy. Statistical analysis was applied to compare the control and injection therapy groups.Results1. Combination of ST36, BL18 and BL21 acu-points is ideal for prevention and cure of CAG;2. Mixture of DANGGUI and HUANGQI is proper for acu-point injection for prevention and cure of CAG;3. Standard clinic operations for CAG are to select a corresponding injector, to pose the patient, to accurately position the acu-points, to disinfect the points, to quick lypierce into skin and slowly push the needle, to slowly pick up and stick into the needle, to slowly inject the liquid and to pull out the needle;4. Proper injection depth and angle was fixed. The needle may be pierced at a slant into the spine on the points of BL18 and BL 21 to a depth of less than 2 cm, or 3 cm for a fat patient. The needle may in pierced perpendicularly into skin to a depth of 2.5 to 3.0 cm.5. Therapy interval is best for daily alternation of bilateral points and therapy period best for 3 months for CAG therapy.6. Nourishment and dissipation was realized by combination of points, needle depth and angle, and injection speed;7. No ill reaction was observation during acu-point injection therapy of CAG afterAbstractfollowing the standard operations.8. The treatment of acu-point injection had profound therapy effect as compared to the medication...
