| Primary dysmenorrhea is a common disease in gynecopathia. Traditional Chinese medicine has the advantage of better effect and fewer side effects in treating dysmenorrhea.Content and aim: This study includes theory research and clinical research. Theory reasearch contains the detailed expound of the ancient masters' knowing and recent progress of western medicine and TCM of primary dysmenorrhea which focuses on the pathogenesis and principle treatment. The clinical diagnosis, therapy and research are accordingly made. The clinical reasearch is carried out to explore the mechanism of the modified Wenjingtang treating primary dysmenorrhea of cold-dampness retention type through observing the clincial effect of this formula which can warm meridians, disperse coldess, remove dampness, regulate Qi, resolve blood stasis and stop pain. Methods: As for the theory research, summary about the principle treatment and formula, the progress on the diagnosis and therapy of primary dysmenorrhea is made after studying the four classical works of TCM and special books about gynecopathia. As for the clinical research, 34 patients with primary dysmenorrhea of cold-dampness retention type were treated with modified Wenjingtang for three courses of treatment By comparing the manifestation of pretherapy and post-therapy, we got to know the clinical effect.Result and conclusion: The findings of the theory research can be concluded as following. The etiology of primary dysmenorrhea is complicated. Weak constitution, kidney-qi deficiency ,hypoplasia of uterus or narrow cervical canas can cause difficult outflow of menstrual bleeding and secondary abdominal pain. Cold-dampness from cold weather, rain , cold food or damp environment injuries the low jiap, attacks the uterus. Thus coldness remained in the blood and affect the normal circulation and pain ensues. The main pathogenesis is that the pain results from the cold-dampness attacking the Chong and Ren meridians, disturbing the normal blood circulation. All the syndromes can be classified into dificiency syndromes and excess syndromes. Deficiency syndromes contain type of Yang deficiency, type of Qi-blood deficiency and type of liver-kidney impairment Excess syndromes contain type of Qi stagnation and blood stasis and type of cold-dampness retention which is the most popular . Among 34 patients, 9 were cured (26.47%), 18 were obviously improved (52.94%), 5 were improved (14.7%) and 2 had no change (5.88%). The total effective rate is 94.11%. |
