It is a new task that the contemporary reform of China is analyzed in science of man's angle of human nature, the meeting of man's want, pursuit of interest, and man's development, to look for a new social system compatible with the development of human nature. This study is important both to the sound performance of reform and to human development. This dissertation starts with through surveying of the background of China's current reform and then further explores the historical and theoretical dimensions of the social changes with a view to understand the humanity truth of these changes. It is well known that the contradiction of productive forces and production relations, economic basis and superstructure is the basic dynamic of social reform and development, but the subject of the basic social contradiction is man, the origins of the contradiction take roots in calling for continuous development of humanity, and the contradiction can only be resolved by man's reform of the social system. The function of the basic social contradiction is materialized through the contradiction between social system and the need to develop humanity, while latter remaining the direct and inherent dynamic of the social reform. The foundation of humanity is human's want, while man's want and interest are the deeply motive causes of man to perform productive labor and to associate in certain social relations. The current reform of China is of change in social relations, so it must be carried out from man's want and interest. But in the new hierarchy of interest, people in different interest stratum have different want and interest expectation. This requires that the reform should look for the 'parallelogram of the composition of forces'and meet the interest of the majority in the settlement of contradiction and conflict of people's want and interest. This is both the aim of reform and the sine qua non of a sound performance of the reform. The realistic goal of value of the reform is emancipation of man, the construction of social system and institutions most adaptive to the need of development of humanity, In fulfilling that goal we have to fully undertake reforms of economic, political and educational to lay down the ideal institutional platform of human development. The two decades of China's reform has achieved a lot in promoting human development. But it also paid much of cost. Some of them were due to fault. And we should lessen it to a minimum by reforming the policy-making mechanism and educating people. And some costs were what we had to pay because these were the other side of the coin of the achievements. And we can lessen its negative influence on the people by employing some compensatory and relief measures.Current development of Chinese is still in a low and unbalanced state, we stillhave a long way to go in realizing the ideal goal of Marx's idea of man's free and full development. It will be a long and gradual course to realize that goal.
