Media Poetics: An Introduction

In point of fact, it's permeated and explained by communication media that the modern & the post-modern society has showed itself been a media society from this angle .The media society defined a pattern of the culture in produce, transmission, acceptance and consumption about the modem & the post-modern society. In brief, it's mainly made up by what media shows in the mode what culture works and the modality what culture exists now. The development of modern culture mostly depends on the modern communication media what symbolized by three developments: newspaper, movie &TV and Internet. Undoubtedly, modern communication media has being a super culture problem.The media revolution is not only a culture history but also a culture reality; this represented in the area of society revolution, the information revolution, and the thoughts revolution, the literature revolution too. Modern media as a whole does not have the ordinary culture power but presents a cultural hegemony or some imperialist trait It's very important for creating and establishing several of social rut that movie, TV and Internet are regard as main media of reproducing the society. It is this powerful cultural hegemony that made the modern media pressed heterogeneous culture that different from it and at the same time, it transformed heterogeneous culture energetically and made it ran on the tracks of homogenization, typization. So a kind of homeostatic media culture was born.Media culture indicates what media society presents. It cohered media and culture one dynamics course, appeared in a form of cultural field and fabricated the observance and situation of the daily life. As Snow said, in modern society, the public could accept the social reality that the media presented, so, modern culture became media culture in fact. Diana believed culture, especially media culture has already been an important role undoubtedly, and has already influenced all aspects of modern society, included literature.Mediaization and mediaty should not be the evasive problem if the literature fact of modem &post-modern society had been investigated. Mediaty is a literary inbeing for literature always relies on some material media, but media do not mean tools and messages, and media do mean ideaology. As the epitome of social life, media does not merely build the aesthetic modernity of constructing literature; it also influences and participates in nearly all literature scene and literature activity of modem &post-modern and it marked literature deeply with media's will and words. Mediaization comprised two parts: the first one is literaturization of media. It is the media that embezzled the symbolic capital from literature for making up the commercial capital of itself; the second one is mediaization of literature. It is the strategy of literature that develop under the hegemony of medium field and medium culture. Literature in times of media possessed not onlyan isomorphism in characters, sounds and pictures but also the multi-mediaty support by technology. In times of media, literature does not belong to itself; it belongs to all media product. Media and media culture has been centerized and powerized constantly while literature solving its bepuzzlement and be marginalized.Though could we entrust our spirit to a Utopia of literature, eventually we shouldn't leave literature Utopian. Investigating the crises of literature in current media times, especially the rise of net literature makes old literature mythology burst, it's essential after literature carrier moves on a large scale to investigate the newly-built literature pattern and structure, search out the new "Archimedes fulcrum" and panorama-open new windows for literature and literature theoretical research. Only by opening the literature theory can it develop the literature theory, "shifting in media poetics" is perhaps a kind of that reality is called and chosen with the theory.Whereas, the basic research approach of this paper is culture study. The aims of present study are shown as below: Firstly, grow the research on medium and medial ize of modern and post-modern literature; Secondly, in the sight of culture transmit and regard "media and literature" as the fulcrum, illustrate the urgency and possibility of reconstruction of poetics; Thirdly, explore the influence and growth of literature of media/media field; Fourthly, construct literature field of media times and analyze the literature meaning of newly-increased field; Fifthly, illustrate the connotation of media poetics, the essentiality of literature criticism study paradigm "shifting in media poetics", and defining the elementary ranges of media poetics; Finally, present a fore-view to the aftertime of literature and the futural literature, and make a doctrinal analysis about aesthetic value of media literature. In conclusion, the ultimate task of this paper is, to comprehend the transition from traditional literature study to contemporary form study of literature by putting it in the structural logic of media society/media literature field and in the large backdrop of transition of literature and document form in media society, and regarding this as opportunity to seek a new connotation for literature and poetics.Foreword: Culture communication and reconstruction of poetics.
