Motivations of selection the poetic popularization trend as a research object from the perspective of modernity come from two sources: one from a reflection on the political norm of new poems and expressions of the enlightenment; another from a reflection on the popularized poetic trend itself. The significance of this choice lies in an emphasis on absorption of and balance of various poetic views so as to avoid two extreme expressive models for new poetic writing and to seek for an optimum course for development of modernity of new poems. Universal meaning and specific cultural diversity coexist side by side in this modernity. However, it seems that Chinese modernity is an embedded type rather than an original one, and that it not only shows itself from the beginning as a sort of rebellion against tradition but also reveals itself as double conflicts between the modern and the tradition, and between China and the Western from which give birth to concrete representations of the pursuit of subjectivity, separation and reflection. In this very context arises the modernity of popularization of poetry which experiences transformation from the oldest artistic poetry style for elitists to one for the majority of society, and follows by another transformation from a style for aristocrats with the strictest conventional norms and governing to one free from constraints of both language and literary styles for common people. These changes indicate a separation of the modernity of popularization trend of poetry from the tradition and an acceptance of the principles of subjectivity of enlightened modernity. Nevertheless, because of its close relation, at the very start, with social and political interests and utility, this modernity represents a relationship with enlightened modernity with relevance and conflicts, exhibiting contradictions between individual subjectivity and collective subjectivity, between social interests and aesthetics, and between categories of Chinese styles and those of the Western.The occurrence and development of the modernity of popularization trend of poetry are noted from both inside and outside of those styles, that is, they are expressed in detail in pursuit of subjectivity, in its correspondent aesthetics, in its contents, spirits and forms of styles, etc. With the advent of modern ideas and with the conceptualization and imagination of ethnic group and nation in Chinese intellectual's minds, the modern transformation of Chinese new poetry occurs partly because of its pure literature and stylistic aims, but mainly because of the revolutions in thoughts, culture and politics.
