Li Bai was one of the greatest poets in Tang Dynasty, who enjoyed the same reputation with Du Fu, another great poet in Tang Dynasty. They are both considered as the very important poets in the study of Tang Poetry.Li Bai's poetry is the representative of Tang Poetry, hence, in the study of Tang Poetry, his poems should be regarded as a very important part of Tang Poetry, This paper focuses on the compounds in LiBai's poetry, which belongs to the field of medieval ancient Chinese studies. The main vocabulary in Li's poetry is that the words mostly are inherited. There are not many new words and new word meaning in Li's poetry. Those compounds in his works were formed from antediluvian monosyllables in ancient Chinese, and the new meaning of the words developed from the old words. Therefore, this article is also going to elaborate the word formation of the compounds in Li Bai's poetry under the guidance of synchronical and diackronical theory.This paper consists of four parts:The first part gives a brief introduction on "LiBai and the study of his works" with its emphasis on the study of the language in LiBai's poetry in the first part, In this section, we lay an emphasis on the principles and criteria of chosing the compounds from LiBai's poetry,...
