Li Bai's Poems Partial Official Compound Words

Li Bai's poetry is the representative of Tang Poetry. In his poetry there are such rich compound words which are precious material for studying words of Tang Poetry. The modifying compound words are in the majority, so the author takes them as the language material to study use in the context of Li's poetry and"Quan Tang Shi". They mostly are the common words, only the minority are about Taoism and Buddhism. This article mainly has carried on the preliminary discussion from the semantic angle, and has analyzed the relations between the two morphemes in those typical modifying compound words of Li's poetry. By classifications the author further reveals their inner form of modifying compound words.According to the classifications of Professor Xiang Xi's studies about modifying compound words in"Shi Jing", the modifying compound words in Li's poetry are divided into 14 minor sorts. In each minor sort, some main characteristics were analyzed and concluded in some degree, also their obvious characteristics of part of speech were indicated.Moreover this paper has list out the neologism and new meanings of modifying compound words in Li's poetry.The enumerating and description about modifying compound words in Li's poetry not only show these compound words in quantity but also manifest the Middle Ancient Chinese characteristics: Based on Archaic Chinese, the two morphemes of modifying compound words of Middle Chinese have developed from the semantic arrangement in pairs or groups to the grammar(in the part of speech) construction, the joints of the two morphemes are more flexible between the semantic and part of speech.The modifying compound words have evolved to the pattern(the modifier is in the front of the modified).
