Erosion Situation And Protection Of Beach In Eastern Part Of Shandong Peninsula

Coastal erosion problems are widespread throughout the world. The research oncoastal erosion and protection has been one of the hot issues in geosciences. Since1970s，approximately80%of sandy coast in Shandong province has suffered erosion.Sandy beaches are one of the most important tourist resources in Shandong province.Along with the social economic development，how to protect sandy beaches isbecoming an important subject，it is needed by building the blue economic zone.Based on the field surveys and repeated profile observations assistant with thecomparison of many year’s topographic maps and previous research，this studyclassified the beaches，assessed beach quality，found out evolvement rule of sandybeaches，analyses erosion conditions，clarified the main erosion factors，in the end putforward the protection strategy. some conclusions were made in this research，asfllows：（1）There are many sandy beaches in eastern part of Shandong Peninsula，widely and more uniform spatial distributed，sand thickness.（2）According to sandy coastal landforms，coast are classified to three kinds，as Cape-bay coast、straightened coast、Barrier-lagoon，and the last one is representedby three three components，such as Barrier-lagoon coast/tombolo type、Barrier-lagooncoast/barrier type、Barrier-lagoon coast/sand spit type。There are43cape-bay coasts，5Barrier-lagoon coasts/tombolo type，6Barrier-lagoon coasts/barrier type，13Barrier-lagoon coast/sand spit type。Beaches are classified into four kinds according to Morphodynamic parameter：Dissipation Type（Malanjing-Chudao beach）、barrier-Trough type（Rushan Yintanbeach、Tianehu beach、Wenshibaotan beach）、low-tide terrace（Weihai InternationalBathing Beac beach、Rongcheng Seashore Park beach、Jinghaiwei beach、HaiyangWangmishatan beach）、Reflective type（Banyuewan beach）.（3）Based quality evaluation results,two beaches are poor quality,most of them belong to medium level.It is consistent with the survey data.（4）There are90%beach suffering erosion in the study area. Beach erosion isdivided into foure grade, such as serious erosion、weak erosion、erosion andequilibrium. Rongcheng coast and Haiyang coast suffers serious erosion，Shidao coastsuffers erosion，Huancui region coast suffers weak erosion，there are only two palceno erosion.（5）Author studied the evolution rules of beach in the eastern part of ShandongPeninsula according to interannual variations of the coastline,seasonal changes inbeach profile,changes in sediment and beach response to the storm surge. Bynnumerical simulation, we found A variety of factors made some beach be on theverge of collapse.（6）Beaches are protected by hard and soft meathods in study area,but scale issmall.If we want to effectively protect the coast from erosion，beach protecteionmethods must be made according to beach function. Ecological revetment is a majormethod,and than reasonably hard revetment is to assist.
