The object of this study is on the physical training of the high-level kayakists of our country. Based on a theoretic summery and refinement of the former studies, and also combined with the insight in kayaking practice, this paper adopts many reseach methods, trying to do some theoretic and practical research, which includes the essential features of our high-level kayakists’ physical structure and their interrelationships, the structural features of strength ability, the periodic features of srtength training, different strength training patterns in different periods, the optimization of strength training means, functional stretching and the application of recovery physical training, ect.The main research findings are as follows:1. The essential characteristic of kayaking is speed competition and the speed is the soul, namely, a physical and periodic sports event displays high-speed and stamina with features of smooth rowing techniques and reasonable speed structures. The physical training mainly happens in the water, complemented by land, and the two combine closely. The techniques are the basis; physical ability is the key; tactics are the means and mentality is the guarantee.2. In the practice of kayaking, there exists the combination of three basic sport qualities---strength, speed and stamina, which again combine with other qualities, such as flexibility, coordination, agility, balance, rhythm and stability. All these factors have interactive relationships at different dimensional and multi-level degrees. They affect, facilitate and limit one another. The features of energy supply of the three energy metabolism system in physical traing is the physiology basis. By modifying the techniques and improving various sport qualities, the integral means is used to improve the speed and stamina. 3. The optimization of specific strength training means for kayak is an integral model for intensifying strength training and functional strength training.4. Different from traditional recursion strength training, core strength training has especially designed and it is the primary. The techniques and means of functional strength training are also taken into account, which keeps the shoulder, waist, abdomen and leg flexibile, coordinating and balancing. The training has effectively facilitated the specialization of general strength training, and the effect of one paddle has been imporved.5. At present, our country has devoted much attention to the functional stretching training of kayak teams, and pulling techniques and pulling training means are chosen accordingly to their stretching aim.6. Through theoretical exploration and practical application, recovery stamina training plays a vital role in helping kayakists to guard against and treat injuries, restore health, prevent relapse and improve their stamina so as to adapt to special trainings.
