Currently,the society is in the period of rapid transition.The social problems are complicated.Only instilling theories cannot completely meet the needs of ideological and political work.To achieve the goal of education better and enhance the actual effect of ideological and political education for the goal of “educating people and cultivating people in all aspects” emphasized by General-secretary Xi in the speech at the working conference,we are supposed to creatively apply more infectious educational skills and techniques.So far,spiritual and cultural products,especially works of arts and literature,are powerful weapons of ideological and political education.Is there any form with the most penetrating power of the times and the most acceptable by the public? The author did a lot of preliminary investigations,finding that public art is very much in line with the requirements for the carrier of ideological and political education and it can have educational effect in a wide range silently.However,there are not many studies from the perspective of ideological and political education.This is the original intention of this topic,in attempt to make better use of public art to serve ideological and political education.Therefore,this study examines the theoretical basis of public art for the realization of ideological and political education.First of all,in the theory of Ideological and political education,ideological and political education needs a certain carrier.The internal and external characteristics of culture are all in accordance with the needs of the carrier of Ideological and political education,and art belongs to a form of cultural carrier,so the public art can be the carrier of Ideological and political education.Second,western and eastern aesthetic thoughts emphasize the educational function and social utility of art,and many experts and scholars all over the world have also studied the social education function of public art with a large number of experiments of which the vast majority have shown good results.Third,the essences of public art are publicity and participation,which coincide with the requirements of ideological and political education for the environment and the mediator.Essentially,public art is suitable for ideological and political education.Fourth,from the perspective of aesthetic behavior,good works of art can enable viewers to pursue truth,goodness and beauty and have a more perfect personality through aesthetic empathy,association,imagination and contemplation.In this respect,the purpose of art and ideological and political education is the same.This further affirmed that public art has the function of ideological and political education.In addition,according to the theory of Genius Loci and the theories of psychology,public art can motivate people to respond to the space;it can have psychological influence on the public through the graphic,the color and the environment.This is consistent with the need of ideological and political education.Recognizing that public art can serve as the carrier of ideological and political education,the author focuses his research on the functions of ideological and political education that public art is equipped.Through a large number of cases,the author analyzes and concludes that public art has five functions: psychological education,patriotic education,legal education,ideal education,and moral education.The first one is psychological education.It includes three aspects: stress-reducing,depression-relieving,pain-appeasing and feeling-venting.The second is the patriotic education function.It includes two aspects of history memory and cultural consciousness.The third is legal education.It includes three aspects: Recognition of rights,define responsibilities and regulate behavior.The fourth is ideal education.It includes three aspects: promotion of democratic ideas,the concept of freedom and the spirit of rule by law.The fifth is moral education function.It includes three aspects: spiritual baptism,moral cultivation and ideological infiltration.There are various forms of public art to realize the function of Ideological and political education.According to the type of space,there are symbolic and commemorative sculpture and historical blocks;National Museum and memorial hall;public architecture of government;public art of landscape;community public art,and according to the form of expression,there are ecological public art,facilities public art,politics and government propaganda art,common people's public art,residential buildings,etc.After clarifying the five major functions of public art in ideological and political education,this paper relies on the three projects at the university level and at the provincial level,trying to carry out ideological and moral education practice for college students based on the campus public art as the carrier of ideological and political education.The starting point is that we hope to improve campus culture environment through campus public art and implicit ideological and political education for college students,which will have a positive impact and enhance ideological and moral cultivation and political awareness.The final result shows that either the student groups as educators or the student groups as educates,the majority has affirmed the effectiveness of this activity and has different degrees of achievement.This is the ideological and political education through public art activities have been the dual benefits of education and self-education.Finally,we put forward the relevant suggestions on the three key aspects of the research: artists,government and regulatory agencies,and citizens.And we summed up the experience gained in this study as follows: First,the inherent characteristics and external representations of art determine that it is the cultural carrier of Ideological and political education,and the publicity and participation of public art determine that it is more suitable for modern society than other types of art.Second,popularization of public art is intuitive,vivid and interesting.It is more consistent with the practical requirements of the diversity of social life style and diversified forms of employment than the boring theory of instillation.It has more obvious advantages in the undertaking of psychological education,patriotism education,law and discipline education,ideal education and moral education,and the effect is more remarkable.Third,the campus public art throughout the campus environment,a wide range and the implicit educational means,helps to enhance the attraction and penetration of Ideological and political education,thus achieving good results.
