As part of the humanities education,public art education plays an important role in improving the aesthetic consciousness and cultivating noble character of the modern college students.Public art education is not only the important carrier of carrying out quality education,but also an important way to implement aesthetic education.In recent years,the ministry education enacts a series of documents to standardize the development of the public art education in the universities,such as 《 public art curriculum guidelines of universities 》 in 2006 and《several opinions on promoting the development of public art education》in 2014.These two documents of public art education makes a more comprehensive description in teaching goal,arranging curriculum,choosing teachers and setting evaluation system.A series of documents not only reflect that the ministry of education pays attention to the public art education,but also provide a direction for the development of public art education in the universities.Public art education not only improves abilities in finding beauty and appreciating beauty and creating beauty,but also develops mind of the students and cultivates innovation ability.As the cradle of training teachers,Yunnan Normal University should not only attach importance to professional courses,but also pay attention to public art education.There are some different forms in carrying out public art education,such as by basic theory courses,attending art lectures and community activities.However,the development of public art education in Normal University seems not perfect in the real life.This paper considers the concept of public art education as the breakthrough point.In the second chapter the author discusses the functions and features of public art education.This paper chooses a part of students of Yunnan Normal University as the research objection and obtained some existing problems about public art education in Yunnan Normal University by distribution and analysis of the questionnaire.The problems show that there is deviation in understanding the concept of general education and curriculum system is not sound.Besides,these problems also include lack of reasonable structure of teachers and specialized management institutions and so on.To solve these problems,the author puts forward the corresponding countermeasures in the fourth chapter,mainly from raising awareness of the public art education and constructing reasonable curriculum system and multi-channel forms of public art educationand strengthening the construction of the teaching staff and perfect management mechanism.
