A Study On The Structure And Influence Factors Of Volleyball Team Emotional Intelligence

The volleyball team emotional intelligence refers to the ability to perceive,share,evaluate and regulate the emotions of the volleyball team on the basis of group dynamics.Research on the emotional intelligence in the volleyball team is important for players to identify the team mood,share,evaluate and regulate their own emotions.Based on previous knowledge about team emotional intelligence,using emotional psychology,semiotic interaction theory,and information processing theory as its theoretical foundations,this study investigated the team emotional intelligence among different volleyball athletes,coaches,and teams via document analysis,interviews,questionnaires,mathematical statistics.On that basis,a volleyball team emotional intelligence theory model was established and a “volleyball team emotional intelligence scale” was constructed.The main research findings are as follows:(1)In light of semiotic interaction theory,and information processing theory,with reference to previous research and the characteristics of volleyball as a competitive sports,a volleyball team emotional intelligence theory model was established,with team emotion cognition,sharing,evaluation and regulation as its four dimensions.(2)According to the volleyball team emotional intelligence theory model and how athletes perceive different competition situations,the 18-item volleyball team emotional intelligence scale was constructed.Its retest reliability,internal consistency reliability,construct validity and empirical validity have all be tested and all the items meet the specified requirements in contructing the scale.(3)Through the correlation study of the volleyball team emotional intelligence and coaches and athletes' personal emotional intelligence,the correlation of volleyball team emotional intelligence with coaches' emotional intelligence is high and that with athletes' emotional intelligence is low.A regression analysis was followed and it was found that the emotional intelligence of coaches and athletes may help predict the team emotional intelligence,but the emotional intelligence of coaches has a more predictive value to the team emotional intelligence.(4)The team emotional intelligence cognition in the high performance level women volleyball teams is higher than their male counterparts.Team members with average age range of 20-21 have satisfactory team emotional intelligence cognition,but perform poorly in team emotional intelligence,team emotion sharing,evaluation and regulation.The higher the athletes' rank level,the higher their emotional intelligence is;the longer their experience in the team,the better their team emotional intelligence cognition.The better accomplishments they have in competitions,the better they perform in their team emotional intelligence,team emotion sharing,evaluation and regulation.However,their team emotional intelligence cognition goes in the opposite directions.Female coaches' team emotional intelligence cognition is better than their male counterparts.The increase in the age of the coaches is positively correlated to their team emotion sharing,evaluation and regulation,but negatively correlated to their team emotional intelligence cognition.The higher the academic titles of coaches,the better their team emotion evaluation ability.The longer their coaching period is,the better they perform in team emotional intelligence,team emotion sharing,evaluation and regulation,but the weaker they display in their team emotional intelligence cognition.(5)The team emotional intelligence and ability of team emotion sharing,evaluation and regulation in high performance level volleyball teams is better than the sunshine teams,but there is no difference in team emotional cognition.
