| “The collection of Emperor Gaozong was no less than those of Huizong.”This was the common comment of Shaoxing Neifu in Song Dynasty. How the royal court collected works of art, particularly scrolls of calligraphy and paintings? How the collections were stored and arranged? At the same time, was court intervention in the art market influenced by,and had an impact on,the production, circulation, and imagination of art outside the court? this dissertation will discuss these questions and look back on Emperor Gaozong’s collections and connoisseurships by taking Mi Youren, who used to serve in Shaoxing Neifu,as a clue. |
