Urban transportation and land utilization are both the sub-systems of urban complex system. They have their inherent development and evolution rules. Moreover, there is interactive feedback relationship which is mutually interrelated and constrained between them. Their coordinated development is prerequisite to solve urban transport problems and achieve intensive land utilization. In China, conflicts between urban transportation and land utilization become increasingly prominent. On the one hand, urban land is developed in high density. On the other hand, more and more vehicles are used and roads are highly demanded. These situations are what we are researching in relationship between them. Based on the specific conditions, Changsha City is chose for the representative to be studied theoretically and empirically. This paper shows the research result of urban transportation and land utilization, achievements include as below:Firstly, the theory and methods related to coordinated research of urban transportation and land utilization are concluded and summarized.Secondary, based on the data support and case study, affect mechanism and impact of interaction of urban transportation and land utilization are discussed.Thirdly, according to characteristics of complex systems of urban transportation and land utilization, coordination of the system is evaluated from two aspects of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative evaluation establishes coordination degree evaluation model via synergetic, while qualitative evaluation analyzes the coordination degree of complex systems via the operating status of transportation system. Index system of coordinated evaluation is established at last. To get the data for evaluation, Geographic Information System (GIS) is adopted. And then data is processed by its powerful spatial analysis function.Fourthly, a program for coordinated evaluation of urban transportation and land utilization is developed by the platform of VB.NET, which is integrated with ArcEngine.Finally, coordination degree evaluation model and program are tested on Changsha City. And then detailed suggestions for integration and interactive development of urban transportation and land utilization are proposed.
