The Search Based On ArcGIS9.3Nanchang Geographic Information System For Transportation Research

Nanchang city’s traffic congestion has been worsening since the accelerated process of urbanizationand the rapid growth of vehicle ownership. This paper proposed the creation of Nanchang city trafficgeographic information system platform which effectively integrates urban intelligent traffic managementsystem information data resources, evaluates the current status of urban road network, transport services,timely feedback to the urban traffic management measures, released traffic operation information to thetraffic participants, and provide efficient information service platform for government decision-making,urban transport planning, traffic management departments and thus plays an effective role to ease trafficcongestion.The framework structure of this system was designed base on the applied functionalmodule of traffic geographic information system, develop the principles and processes ofsystem development as well. The establishment of traffic information geographic systemdatabase is the most important and most basic work of the development of Nanchang citytraffic geographic information system platform. System database needs to deal with the datathat is collected by different subsystems to achieve the traffic information data sharing anddynamic update function. Traffic data set was created after processing traffic geographicinformation system data such as Nanchang geographical features with the road infrastructurestatus, completing the establishment of the Nanchang city traffic GIS spatial database theGeodatabase model by creating topology rule and geometric networks. With the support ofspatial database model, Nanchang city traffic geographic information system was constructed.The main functions of the system are: the display of Nanchang city map, layer management,the Nanchang geographic data query, data analysis of traffic information, Nanchang mapthree-dimensional visualization and cartography, and map printing and exporting. Theestablishment of the of Nanchang city traffic geographic information system will effectivelyprocess and analyze traffic information data, timely reflect urban traffic conditions, providescientific aid for traffic management department on decision-making and solve urbanintegrated traffic problems.
