This thesis makes a detailed analysis of the connotation, basic kinds of underdetermination and the interrelationship between distinct kinds. It expounds similarities and differences between underdetermination and empirical eqivalence. It also illuminates the view that weak underdetermination of theories is to some extent reasonable in certain circumstances. Then it analyses the premise and essence of Karl Popper's falsificationist principle and examines the intrinsic relationship between falsifacationist method and underdetermination, thus proposing the idea that underdetermination doesn't negate falsificationist method altogether and reappraising the feasibility of falsificationist method and its historical status.
