Geography Information System is a computer system which is used to collect, store, manage, analyze, display and apply the geography information ,It is a general technology to analyze and deal with the abundance geography data. With the rapidly development of distributed computing technology, Oriented-Object Component-based technology, network technology, Distributed GIS is an important research area of GIS , WebGIS is the combination of GIS and Web, The applied domain of GIS expand to every field of the society and GIS becomes to the public information tool.Distributed WebGIS based on DCOM is a system which supplies geography information service by a group of distributed server for Internet client. The spatial data is stored in many websites, The server analyze the request in the client and ensure the location of the data which is requested by the client, Then it acquirs the relative data and return it to the client. Distributed WebGIS enlarge the ability of visiting data and the scale of the server, so it strengthens the ability of processing data and improves the interaction with the user, the function of the system is strengthened too.Component technology can be encapsulated in the function module which is used to realize the task in detail, it can be assembled and embeddedconveniently and support the application and the second programming.Distributed WebGIS using component technology is inevitable trend of GIStoday. This paper presents a Distributed WebGIS based on DCOMtechnology.
