Water enterprise is based on Hydrology and Hydrologic network is foundation of hydrology work. The hydrologic network information system is an essential part of the building of Hydrologic information. WebGIS is a technology based on the Internet and GIS. Through WWW, GIS has been getting more function and becoming a popular tool. WebGIS is more excellent than general MIS in the hydrologic network information system (HNIS) and it provides distributive management and multimedia query and so on.Hydrologic station is a distributive organization and relates to geography location and geological condition. In order to get the information of hydrologic station and make full use of it in preventing from flood disaster, the hydrologic station data must be linked to GIS. WebGIS is necessary to be used in managing hydrologic station and the environment of rivers. The study shows how to build a HNIS based on the theory development and technology of WebGIS and focus on the following issues:1. Introduce the theory and development of GIS and the popular software ofWebGIS. Analyze the present status of hydrologic network's information andbring forward the necessity of Applying WebGIS to management of theinformation of hydrologic network.2.Introduce the conception, components, techniques and problem of WebGIS.3. A comparison of the popular WebGIS technology and models.4.Sampled with HNIS to show how to set up WebGIS application System.Describe the importance of WebGIS in managing hydrologic networkinformation.
