Directed by the modern advanced theories, views and methods such as cyclic stratigraphy, sedimentology, sedimentary petrography and reservoir geology etc., starting with stratigraphic classification and correlation, this thesis expounds the sedimentary framework and the predominant types of sedimentary facies of Jialingjiang Formation in southern Sichuan Basin. And three kinds of facies and more than ten kinds of subfacies have been recognized on the basis of field profile observation, core data, a large amount of slice identification as well as single well lithology and sedimentary facies analyses about eighteen key well. The conception of Restricted Platform is cited for the first time to demonstrate the special sedimentary characteristics that develop on the Luzhou sub-sea uplift in the interior platform. Through the analysis of the sedimentary facies of individual well and the features of correlation profiles of three wells, the vertical and lateral development regulation of sedimentary facies of Jialingjiang Formation is clarified. Using single factor analysis method, indexes, including the thickness of the whole formation, grain rocks, dolomite, gypsolith and mudstone, and the individual bed thickness/that of the whole formation ratio, have been selected to analyze quantitatively the sedimentary facies of different phases. Furthermore, together with the regional sedimentary background, the plane distribution characteristics of sedimentary facies respectively have been shown clearly according to the dominant facies. And the development and evolution models of the facies have also been established. By means of the study of diageneses, the reservoirs' formation and development mechanisms have been discussed, and as a result, the establishment of reservoir development model appears. Finally, based on the predominant factors that control the reservoir development, this paper has pointed out the distribution of favorable reservoir thus provide direct geologic evidences for the secondary exploration in Jialingjiang Formation in the south of Sichuan Basin.
