3DGM(Three-dimensional Geological Modeling) was put forward in order to solve the 3D geological problem, such as 3D stratum, rupture, 3D display of mine body and laneway, creation of section. The theory of modern space information was used to study stratum, its information, data organization, spatial modeling and mathematics expression. Also the technology of visualization was used to treat stratum and environmental information to realize 3D recurrence and visual interactive operation.Firstly, this article discusses two kind of ways to build geological stratum, including TIN and Grid, and choose the Grid modeling as the modeling arithmetic. Later, this article detailed analyzes the 3D spatial modeling methods at present and sums up as surface modeling, body modeling and blend modeling. By way of comparing all kinds of modeling arithmetic, we choose the tri-prism modeling. Also this article puts forward the data structure of point, triangle, side face and tri-prism and builds some topology.The key of this article is the tri-prism modeling arithmetic and the incising arithmetic of tri-prism. It detailed introduces the modeling arithmetic and three kinds of incising arithmetic. And then it introduces the visualization of model and the application of visual interactive operation, including virtual drilling, virtual digging and virtual rambling. Finally, it gives us the whole design and function module of the 3D geo-modeling.
