3, 5-dimethoxybenzyl alcohol (L1OH) is a kind of medicine intermediate and the precursor to a family dendrimer material. Studying its molecular structure, vibration spectrum and adsorption peculiarity can help to analyze the structures and features of the higher generation dendrimer, and exploit their application territory. To our knowledge, there were many literatures about the studies of the synthesis and structure of L1OH, while none studies on the vibration spectrum of L1OH was reported.Density Functional Theory (DFT) can calculate molecular vibration spectrum by means of the method based on approximately energy density function. Contrasting with Hartree-Fock, DFT can calculate larger complex matrix for its smaller calculation amounts. DFT considers the electron exchange and electron correlation energy in the process of calculation, so that the calculated results are more precise than other theories. Gaussian is a calculation tool with mighty function, and it is a program packet calculating quantumchemistry which is made up of much module. It can calculate Infrared and Raman spectra of molecules. By means of Gaussian 98, we calculated vibration spectrum of L1OH, and the vibration modes have been assigned.Raman spectroscopy is a very important analysis tool on studying material structure especially crystal structure, phase transition, molecular vibration and rotation spectra; Infrared spectroscopy is another important tool to investigate the molecular structure and molecular vibration spectra. SERS (Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering) has very high sensitivity, and it is a highly powerful analytical tool to investigate molecular structure and interaction between molecule and metal surface.This paper is divided into five parts:In the first chapter,dendrimer structure, synthesis, application and research...
