Battlefield Situation Information System (BSIS) is very important in the Informatization Warfare. Its developing and building includes many aspects, and it is the advanced aspect of development of the Military Information Engineering integrating with the Modern Warfare. BSIS is the most effective tool and means that can be used in the aspect of the warfare perception and the sharing of awareness; its final goal is to achieve the relative information advantage, thus wins the Informatization Warfare. At present, BSIS being various in style, differing in the standard, competing separately, forms the pattern of "chimney"; and the level of integration and mergence of war situation information and battlefield geographical environment information is low; the resources are difficult to share. In order to carry on the digital construction of battlefield of our troops better, holding the direction of the war in the future, it is very important to solve the question of the acquisition, storage, management and release of the battlefield situation information, especially for the question of the intensity of integration and mergence of war situation information and battlefield geographical environment information. It has very profound meanings to do scientific research and develop BSIS.This paper regards study and realization of BSIS as the clue, mainly researches the several following problems:1. Representing the basic conception of BSIS. It introduces the development and tendency of BSIS, and emphasizes the great significance of the study of BSIS.2. Analyzing and designing BSIS. This system is separated into three layers. The three layers are the front battlefield situation information application, the middleware application and the back battlefield situation information management. This system architecture includes two sub network systems: C/S and B/S mode.3. Designing the database of BSIS. It classifies and codes war situation information and battlefield geographical environment information. It designs and realizes the battlefield geographical environment information database and war situation information database. It organically integrates war situation information with battlefield geographical environment information on presentation layer. This system realizes the share of battlefield situation information through Web Services.4. The map presentation middleware and the war situation mark middleware are designed and developed following the design principle of the software project and Component-Based Development (CBD) theory. This paper uses them to develop an original system of BSIS.
