The Application of terrestrial GIS has been developed well, the requirement for marine GIS also has been increasingly universal. But the existing terrestrial GIS application is not easily transplanted to marine field. Owing to the particularity and complexity of the marine science, and GIS is a compositive subject. It is difficult for most scholars to learn the GIS theory knowledge, much harder to develop marine GIS system on their own. Therefore, it's imperative under the situation to find a brief resolve project for GIS application. At present, the most successful one among the GIS companies, ESRI provide us ArcGIS, which is convenient to customize and develop the GIS system by AO (ArcObjects) components library. In the paper, the theory knowledge of GIS and RS is introduced concisely, that joined with AO development experience. Four usual key problems of marine GIS, including marine data management, display and enhancement of raster-grid data, spatial interpolation and developing system technique, are discussed particularly. Roughly speaking, the main content include that, 1) How to access different kind of GIS data by using Geodatabase, and the data management in marine ecosystem health assessment system; 2) The display of raster data, and the image enhance method for interested region, such as, grey scale transformation, images operation, PCA, Filter, Fusion. 3) How to pick out proper interpolation method for raster resample and scatter data. 4) How to develop a marine GIS system using AO. In Addition, through the demonstration of ship detect GIS system based on SAR images, it is easy to reflect the key step in marine GIS system development. For the marine application, The author take use of AO to detailedly explain the usual problems. Certainly, in establishing general marine GIS, it needs much more effort on setting up the standard among various marine GIS. The purpose of this paper is that our GIS developments will be a better reference for some other marine spatial information fields.
