Development And Applications Of The Digital Town System

Small towns connect with both large- and medium-sized cities and also the rural areas, which are links and bridges for urban and rural to promote commodity circulation and to increase communications between towns. Construction of small towns plays an important role in development of domestic economy. To rejuvenate our country through science and education and to realize the strategic target of sustainable development, the urbanization progression in our country will speed up, consequently informatization in towns turns into a trend of current development, however, the digital town is one of the important methods to realize town informatization. The digital town is a part of the digital city and also a part of the digital earth, which is a spatial carrier of information of a town and rural areas covered by it on the geology, environment, resources, population, economy and the society utilizing the geographic information system technology, remote sensing technology, GPS, computer network technology, multimedia technology and the virtual simulation technology.This paper fixes the attention on development and applications of the digital town system. Firstly, perform analysis on demands, and make a feasible research on the system through surveys of users; and then, design the system including the overall system design, subsystem division and their functions, and the system database design; finally, realize the digital town system through data collection, build-up of spatial database, and system integration and secondary development.The research also performs discussion on key technologies in the process of development and applications of the digital town system. To the extent, give out its own understanding and analysis on the spatial data warehouse technology, data mining technology, multi-sources data fusion technology, standardization of data classification, hierarchical data and coding, and the Spatialization technology of statistic data such as the share mechanism, society, economy, population and the meteorology.Through this research, the following results are obtained:1. Based on the 3S technology, taking Juntun Town, Xindu District, Chengdu City, a digital town system is set up to perform exploring tests for informatization in small- and medium-sized towns, and to provide references for construction of digital towns in future.2. Development and applications of application subsystems are performed in the digital town system based on the GIS information system of plan and management of cities and towns, cadastral management information system of cities and towns, information system of investment and merchant in cities and towns and technology market services in rural areas, population management information system in cities and towns, resources management information system in cities and towns, and the decision supporting information system in cities and towns.3. Perform remote sensing researches on typical rural settlements in construction of new socialist countryside in Chengdu Plain, and propose opinions on reasonable planning and utilization of lands in rural areas.4. Undertake analysis and researches on spatial distribution of economy and population in Juntun Town and educe influences on its economic development by analysis on population distribution and economic status in villages of Juntun Town.
