The ecologic environment is very fragile in the west arid region of China, a series of ecological environment problems which were induced by human activities become more and more serious, such as desertification, water quality deterioration and decline in biodiversity. Landscape ecology pay attention to the influence caused by human activity between landscape pattern and procedure, it provides a way to the research of arid area ecologic environment.Landscape pattern not only embodies to the result of nature, creature and various social interaction of ecological process, it also decide the distribution and combination of various natural environment factors on landscape space, thus it constrain various ecological process.It can show the influence of human activity through researching on the landscape change at different times of the of same region, then find out the existed problems , put forward countermeasures to achieve landscape ecology sustainable development.Based on the theories of landscape ecology and sustainable development though 3S technology, the paper choose a typical arid areas—Minqin as the model which have special spatial pattern in physical geography and distinct fragile habitat characteristic and evolutive law in habitation, carry on quantitative analysis to two period landscape pattern and its dynamic variety. According to the result of landscape pattern analysis to explain the ecological processes, the evaluation index system of landscape ecology sustainable development was established then described the state of ecological system, and put forward some suggestions and solutions in connection with the existed problems of environment.The analysis of landscape pattern show that the whole landscape characters are dry land, woodland, lawn, reservoir pit pond, village mostly congregated in the main part of dene and gobi.The patch number and area uneven distribution and the difference is obviously; The boundary density of Low overlay lawn, dry land and dene are higher and have higher influence to the whole region; Because of the interference of human activities ,the invade of village and construction, the shape of landscape become complex and irregular, the landscape diversity index is lower , landscape dominant index and fragmentation index are higher. The Markov forecasting show that the rate of water is lower, the rate of village is higher and the whole landscape is distribute disharmony when landscape change attains to stability condition.The research on landscape ecology sustainable development show that Minqin county landscape ecological system is in state of tradition development, and still exist many problems, such as ecological system frailty, lower landscape diversity, higher fragmentation, economic development conflict with keep landscape stability which restricted landscape function to play, in order to make system get away from predicament to virtuous cycle direction and keep landscape ecology sustainable development, some suggestions and countermeasures to solve these problems are proposed.It's important to achieve sustainable development and improve ecologic environment, also hope it have positive influence for correlational study of similar arid region.
