The unbalanced distribution of steam-water two-phase flow in the parallel branches of power station boiler has influence on the hydrodynamic characteristics of the boiler, and decreases the efficiency of operation.Experiment and numerical researches were carried to study the distribution characteristics in the parallel branches manifold. The following conditions were studied in a header,in which air-water two-phase mixture was introduced from radial direction and extracted vertically from the parallel branches:(1)The quality of air-water two-phase flow in the inlet is variable while the velocity of the air is constant.(2) The velocity of the air is variable while the quality is constant. Also, the effect of single inlet tube and double inlet tube to the distribution characteristics were compared.Meanwhile,by using Eulerian model in the software Fluent, the distribution characteristics of the parallel pipe header under multi-conditions were simulated. The deviation of flow in the branches, the two phase volume fraction and the flow field of the simulation result were compared with the experiment result. The comparison indicates that the Eulerian model is suitable for the simulation of the distribution in the parallel pipe manifold and it provides ground for the perdition model.
