Machining Center is essential equipment of advanced manufacturing. With the development of machining centers toward high-performance, multi-function, high-precision, high-speed and high flexibility, as to machining centers, not only high function should be got, but also high reliability should be possessed at the same time. Thereforce, it is of great significance to give a reliability analysis and reliability growth research to machining center. MCH63 horizontal machining center is adopted as research object in this paper, its reliability characteristics is studied by using reliability analysis methods. The main tasks of this paper are as follows:1. By analyzing system function structure and logical relationship between the compositions of MCH63 horizontal machining center, the reliability block diagram model is set up, and then its reliability mathematical model is inferred.2. According to the small sample field failure data of MCH63 horizontal machining centers which was collected from users, the reliability evaluation indexes of MCH63's Mean Time Between Failures(MTBF), Mean Time To Repair(MTTR) and Available Rate(AR) are calculated.3. According to the requirements of cooperative enterprise, a reliability test about MCH63 horizontal machining center's automatic tool exchange system and hydraulic system was carried out. Through the 10000 times automatic tool changing reliability test, the reliability data of MCH63's automatic tool changing system and the hydraulic system were collected.4. Through analyzing the reliability test data of MCH63 horizontal machining center's automatic tool changing system and the hydraulic system using reliability analysis function of Weibull++7, a distribution model fitting and distribution parameter estimation are given. The reliability evaluation indexes and reliability characteristics of MCH63's automatic tool changing system and the hydraulic system are analyzed in BlockSim 7 by using fault tree analysis method too.5. MCH63 Horizontal Machining Center's reliability growth through out the whole life-cycle is researched. The reliability growth recommendations to MCH63 are put forward, which relate to early planning phase, design phase, manufacturing phase and the using phase. Based on reliability analysis, the corresponding reliability improvement advises are given.
