Pilot Study On HUSB-HABR For Municipal Sewage Treatment

This study used HUSB-HABR to treat municipal sewage in condition of normal temperature.. The content of the study include the startup of HUSB-HABR, the performance of HUSB-HABR for municipal sewage treatment and the effects of the operation parameters on the treatment. The results of the experiment show that: 1) The startup of HUSB-HABR was made by the way of high organic load and low clearance at 25?0.2C. At the startup period, HRT (hydraulic retention time) was gradually shortened to heighten organic volume loading. The inoculation sludge was habituated using digestion sludge. The HUSB-HABR started up successful within 50 days. At the beginning of the startup, inputting some microelements can accelerate the growth of anaerobic membrane. 2) In HUSB, insoluble organic and macromolecular compound were hydrolyzed to soluble organic and micro molecular compound respectively and the biodegradability of the effluent was improved. HUSB can take the place of primary sedimentation pond for primary treatment. While the influent COD ranges from 86.7mgIL to 320mg/L (the average is 226.6mg/L), HRT exceeds 5.2h, Nv (organic volume loading) is less than 0.86 KgCOD/(m3.d), the removal efficiency of COD and SS exceed 60% and 77.8% respectively, and the average of the effluent COD is 81 .Omg/L and the effluent SS is less than 3Omg/L. Meanwhile nitrogen removal and phosphorus removal were observed in this study. 3) The sludge concentrations of the low, middle and top of the packings were 14876mg/L, 4218mg/L and 291mg/L respectively. The sludge of the sludge bed has granulized partly. 4) HUSB-HABR has good hydraulic character-the whole is PF and the part is CSTR. Because of the good hydraulic character, the system was never jammed during the experiment period. That PH of HUSB-HABR always keeps neutral during the experiment period shows that HUSB-HABR is stable to hydraulic and organic shock loadings. 5) HRT has strong effect on the removal of the main pollutants, and at low temperature the removal of soluble COD is positive correlation to temperature. In the study the degradation kinetic model of soluble BOO with HRT for municipal sewage treatment was built. 6) It had lower sludge production and an easy maintenance than the traditional activated sludge process. The results of the experiment have some theoretical direction function on revealing the HUSB-HABR, reducing the start-up period, recognizing the operation properties of the HUSB-HABR and optimizing operation process. This work could offer important data to engineering scale and process controlling for HUSB-I-IABR.
