Glass-Ceramics is a kind of composite solid material, which transfers from single glass phase to homogeneous distribution of large amount of micro crystal and glass phase. The glass of special contents containing nuclei agents of not is heat-treated to crystalline under controlled condition and then, glass ceramics is formed.A wide range of contents can form various glass-Ceramics system. Which has better properties than conventional materials, such as good on looking, high strength high anti-erosion and so on. So glass-ceramics can be widely used in electronics, chemical engineering, biochemistry machines, building architecture and so on the glass-ceramics used in milling decoration has been farther studied worldwide. The glass ceramics used, as building surface material for wall and ground is a new kind of material developed in recent years.Because the cost of manufacturing the glass-ceramics is high, the energy-consumption is large, so this glass-ceramics is expansive; The aim of this essay is to use the cheap tailings Ta-Nb tailings to replace some industrial materials to lower the cost. The utilization of Ta-Nb tailing can lower the cost of the glass-ceramics, and it must meet the technique requirement at the same time. Based on the CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 System, using sintering method, the technique of manufacturing using sintering method, the technique of manufacturing building decoration glass-ceramics is relatively mature, and especially in our country. There exist several such kind of manufacturing lines and the products are widely used in buildings. If the design of the furnace can not be changed and the technique parameters can be kept, adding some Ta-Nb tailings to replace some chemical materials, especially Al2O3, which is expansive, can reduce the costdirectly.According to this idea, the contents of Ta-Nb tailings are analyzed at first. The main contents of the Ta-Nb tailings are SiO2 and Al2O3, which amount to more than 90%, the rest parts are R2O, and the impurity is less. Based of theory using Ta-Nb tailing in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 glass-Ceramics system meets the content requirement. But the introducing of R2O must be considered. So in this paper, the amount of Ta-Nb tailings varies from less to more. To determine the optimum amount and the samples are compared with the sample which containers no tailings.A series of measurement on the microstructure and properties of the samples were made. The measurement on the microstructure includes XRD, SEM, IP and Raman spectra. The measurement on the properties include linear expansive confidence, the density of the glass and glass-ceramics, three-point anti-bend strength and chemical stability. Thus structure may determine that the material may have better physical properties, the tailing glass-ceramics, has less expansive coefficient higher density, larger ant-bending strength better chemical stability, which meet the standard of about the building decoration glass-ceramics in the building industry of china.According to the above design, experiment measurement and analysis, the following main conclusions are brained.1 .The Ta-Nb tailings are used for the main materials for the first time. Using sintering method combined with the manufacturing background, the influence of the addition of Ta-Nb tailings on the structure and properties of the glass-ceramics and their relationships are investigated in detail in this paper.2.The crystallization of the glass-ceramics containing Ta-Nb tailing is still beta -CaSiO2, which is the same as that without the tailings. The addition of Ta-Nb tailings does not change the physical and chemical properties of theaglass-ceramics.3.According to the heat-treatment ,with the increase of the amount of the tailings, the temperature range of sintering and crystallization tends to become narrow, which is not benefit for the technique control.
