In this paper,fmite-element-based 3d nonlinear,transient temperature field of 1 700 X 7000mm pit-type heat treating furnace has been investigated. According to the results,the author optimized structure of the furnace. The fact production testified that the simulation and calculation were successful. During the calculation and investigation in this paper,some value conclusions could be drawn as following:1.A 3D,transient,non-linear temperature field model of pit-furnace has been presented basing on the synthesis and refine of models by former researchers. The finite-element method formulas has been derived by using the Galerkin method and simulated with MARC software. Such special methods were adopted in simulation:divisions of FEM grid,time step selection,choice of iteration method.2. The author simulated the pit-furnace and others in several ways. According this the strategy,to optimize the furnace's design was putted forward.(1)Heat short and staleness are easily occurred at glory hole for its complex structure. The simulation showed that the enlarging the thickness of preserved materials could get little effect in saving energy. The author provided measures to decrease headshots and temperature of pit-furnace lid.(2)In design the pit-furnace wall,we should try to select refractory of low heat conductivity,density,and heat specific,which can dominantly cut down the surface area,the heat loss and reduce the time to ascend the working temperature. The anti-heat wall can markedly low the surface's temperature,therefore the heat loss,but it also increases reserve of heat.(3) Because of floating atmosphere inner pit-furnace,the temperature of bottom will lower than hearth when there is no heating element in bottom or equal electro-thermal component on lower part of hearth.(4) the author simulated the temperature field of work piece in working furnace. The conclusion that the work piece should be in effective heating zone and clamp should be suited has been drawn.4. The design and manufacture of furnace has been done based on the results of simulation and calculation. The author has done experiments to testify the simulation. The temperature equality has been measured and effective heat zone has been ascertained during the experiments.The creative viewpoints in my paper are as follows:1.The 3D,transient,non-linear temperature filed of pit-furnace and work piece has been simulated based on MARC software. Such complicated nonlinear factors as heat physical properties,boundary conditions in the model are considered.2.Heatshots has been simulated and the problem of different quality element is solved for the different materials with different physical parameters in this paper.3. The temperature field of work piece has been simulated.4. The distribution of power and electro-thermal component of furnace has been discussed.5.
