| Gear honing is one of gear finishing operations which is widely used because of its high efficiency, high precision and low cost. However, complex configuration and difficult calculation process of honing wheel make it necessary to look after an effective design method.Based on the theoritical analysis of crossed helical gear pair, this paper establishes profile equation and discusses gear honing mechanics of worm-type honing wheel, then the design and calculation equation of archimedean worm-type honing wheel can be got. This paper uses VBA(Visual Basic for Application)language which is one of the secondary development tools for AutoCAD 2000 and applies the ActiveX technology to develop CAD system of worm-shaped honing wheel to complete the parametric design, which has friendly UI(user interface). And that the design pross can be optimized to get more quickly and more accurate. It also validates the correctness of this CAD software with example. This system can put acrosss the plot and design task, at the same time it runs good, being used conveniently, has certain practical worthiness.In addition, this paper discusses the manufacturing of base worm of hard profile worm-type honing wheel and it's plating technics .It can be useful to the establishment of manufacturing technics.
