| Expert system (ES) and Database (DB) technologies have obtained wide applications in welding because of their outstanding achievements. On the one hand, ES can deal with the complexity and experience dependency of welding procedures and manage to establish welding procedures by employing its rules, on the other hand, DB can manage much information involved in welding engineering. The combination of ES and DB has been an attractive research direction in the development of computer technologies. Such combination in welding field can lend itself to realize the integration management of welding procedure and the intelligent welding technology.This dissertation studies on an intelligent database system of welding procedures (WPIDBS), which is based on artificial intelligence technology by introducing ES tool to database management system (DBMS). It can not only manage welding documents and data but also design welding procedures due to its ability to represent knowledge and reason. The system is made up of several parts: welding procedures designing, welding documents management, welding information database and human-computer interface and so on.By making use of database, the system can effectively manage welding process documents, which includes procedure qualification record, welding procedure specification and prequalified welding procedure specification. It supplies these files with the standard forms and has the functions of browsing, inquiring, maintaining and printing.This system combines database management system (MS SQL Server) with expert system tool (CLIPS) and utilizes C++ Builder as development tools. It has good human-computer interfaces and can be easily operated. |
