Continuous extrusion technology has been used widely in producing aluminium and copper wires and cables covered by aluminium and so on. SLJ350 continuous extrusion machine which is manufactured by DaLian Railway Institute is the main machine type of continuous extrusion and clad in China. After this machine type came out,by meliorating continually,the life of the principle shaft system parts such as extrusion wheek shaft sleeve and principle shaft has improved greatly, but is less than the life of import equipment.In order to improve on design, increase performance, extend the life and boost up competition ability, it is necessary that the load and mechanism intensity of the principle shaft system parts is analyzed. Therefore, the main parts including extrusion wheel shaft sleeve and principle shaft have been simulated by FEM..Based on elastic FEM theory and heat transfer theory, the author uses I-DEAS software as a CAE tool, builds the finite element analysis method and techniques of the principle shaft system on work. This paper has four parts:1 .Introduce the theory and application of continuous extrusion method and FEM,expatiate the necessity feasibility and superiority of using FEM to analyze the piriciple shaft system of the continuous extrusion machine.2.Explain the basic theory that will be used in analyzing the principle shaft system by means of FEM.3.Deduce the calculate formula of deformation force, ascertain the value and the distributing rule of load when the principle shaft system is working, make the basis of building boundary condition.4.1n I-DEAS software the author establishes the whole finite element model by manually creating nodes and elements, and makes this model an linear static analysis, gets the distributions of stress and strain of the principle shaft system parts which are forced by loads. Secondly, the author makes an analysis forextrusion wheel's temperature field, finally gains the extrusion wheel'stemperature stress that has been produced by temperature difference.This paper firstly makes a whole structure's finite element analysis for the principle shaft system. The author makes use of gap elements in I-DEAS software to simulate inner elastic contact problem, so the distributions of stress and strain of the principle shaft parts that get from finite element analysis can represent actual status. These results become the reference for determinanting parts' mechanical strength and designing congeneric machine.
