In this paper, the plots of the bias tire's section contour and the material distribution were drawn by means of AUTOCAD. Then AUTOLISP was used to perform the interface between CAD and ANSYS. A 3-D finite element model of bias tire (9.00-20 16PR) was developed by using layer elements, solid elements in ANSYS. The techniques for developing 3D finite element analysis of bias tire are presented.Owing to the complexity in bias tire structure and material properties, it is both economical and exact to model the tire by using layer elements and solid elements. Three kinds of load cases for the bias tire are considered in the study, i.e. being assembled to rim, being aerated, being rotated around the fixed axis of the tire with aeration. The non-linear behaviors of bias tire large deformation are considered. The deformation, stress and strain distribution are investigated specially for each loading cases. The influences of the primary parameter i.e. cord angle and rotate speed are also studied, that help to optimize for designing bias tire.Through studying, we can draw a conclusion that bias tire being aerated, the tension stress is mainly stood by the cords and the concentration of stresses are detected in cushion layers and the end of thereverse wrap of cord fabric. Being rotated around the fixed axis of the tire with aeration, the outer diameter is increased whereas sidewalls are reduced relative to being aerated. The analytical results in the study are consistent with some references and literatures. Therefore, the 3D finite element model for a bias tire is reasonable.
