China is one of 13 water-lacking nations in the world, especially in the north of our country. It is urgent for us to save water and prevent water pollution. Faced to the development trend of city wastewater treatment that wastewater discharging requirements are more and more stringent and wastewater will be reused, the paper brings forward and builds the control system based on agent for wastewater treatment. It completes the designing and implementation of sludge residence time(SRT) agent and the control system implements the intelligence by and large through the communication, coordination and cooperation among agents. The independent agents are adopted to complete the specific tasks of wastewater treatment plant in the control system designed, so the knowledge distribution and control distribution is implemented in wastewater treatment. It improves the real-time ability, reliability, maintenance and extendibility. CAN(Controller Area Network) is adopted to implement the communication between PC and programmable logic controller(PLC) and sensor controller, so it improves the rate of data transmission and anti-disturbance ability and also strengthens real-time ability and reliability.
