Because the research and development of Mineral Explosion-proof Disel-Engine Rail Haulage Traction Locomotive is less in our country, and the application of Virtual Prototyping technology to the brake system of the locomotive is even less, so this paper aims at the important industrialization cultivation-item of shaanxi province educational department —Exploiture and Manufacture of Mineral Explosion-proof Disel-Engine Rail Haulage Traction Locomotive, simulates and optimizes the brake system of this mineral locomotive based on Virtual Prototyping technology. This paper not only analyses the technical parameters and the brake system of the mineral locomotive, but also improves the original design. Secondly, the mechanics of the wheel and the whole locomotive is analysed, at the same time, the adhesive state of wheel and rail is also analysed. At last, the model of the distance and time in the process of brake is set up, the brake characteristic and its influence factor is analysed. This paper discuss the every aspects of design and development of brake mechanism of engine by the tool of Virtual Prototyping technology, set up the three-dimensional model of Mineral Explosion-proof Disel-Engine locomotive applying the software, which involved kinematics analysis and interference inspectation on the model; then convert the model from Pro/E to ADAMS by mechanism/Pro, through system modeling, then virtual prototype come into being. Then aimed at the locomotive do simulation at every condition include fully and empty loaded, then, obtain the curve of velocity and distance, and attain its change rule. This paper does some optimization of the control mechanism of brake system finally. Through the research of this thesis, it give a important reference to the design and test of the brake system, at the same time, it give a reference example for the application of Virtual Prototyping on the field of mineral mechanism, which own its practice significance.
